Preventive Dental Care
Maintain Healthy Teeth with Regular Check-Ups
In recent years, the concept of preventive dentistry, which helps to prevent cavities and gum disease, has become more widely recognized.
Regular maintenance is essential for enjoying a comfortable life with your natural teeth for as long as possible.
What is Preventive Dentistry?
The most common oral health issues are cavities and gum disease.
However, by visiting the clinic regularly, these problems can often be detected early—before any noticeable symptoms appear.
Early detection increases the likelihood that treatment can be simpler and more effective.
TROUBLE
Recommended for Patients with the Following Concerns:
- Want to prevent cavities and gum disease
- Want to remove tartar (calculus)
- Concerned about stains on teeth
Goals of Preventive Dentistry
Professional Care by Dental Hygienists
Tartar Removal & Tooth Surface Polishing
At our clinic, dental hygienists provide professional care, including tartar removal and tooth surface polishing.
Tartar removal involves thoroughly eliminating hard deposits that cannot be removed by regular brushing, using specialized instruments.
Brushing Check & Instruction
We believe that daily self-care is extremely important.
When necessary, we use a special dye to highlight remaining plaque, allowing patients to see and quantify how effectively they are brushing.
Based on this, we provide personalized brushing guidance tailored to each individual.

What is Dental Cleaning?
At our clinic, we perform dental cleaning using the Air-Flow system.
This method effectively removes plaque, tartar, and stains, while also helping to reduce bad breath, keeping your mouth clean and healthy.
What is Air-Flow?
Air-Flow is a cleaning method that removes stains without using abrasives, protecting the tooth surface.
It non-invasively removes biofilm (bacterial film) and discoloration from both the tooth surface and periodontal pockets.
Goals of Dental Cleaning
Dental Cleaning Procedure
-
①Examination & Diagnosis
By using a dental microscope, we can magnify areas that are difficult to see with the naked eye, allowing us to detect tiny lesions and structures.
This enables more accurate examination, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
-
②Oral Examination
- Check the condition of the teeth
- Examine the gums (periodontal tissues)
- Assess the bite (occlusion)
- Inspect the oral mucosa, tongue, and entire mouth
- Evaluate oral hygiene and cleanliness

-
③Scaling (Tartar Removal) as Needed
Tartar is removed using ultrasonic and hand scalers.
If tartar is found below the gum line (in the periodontal pockets), it will be carefully treated.
-
④Full Cleaning with Air-Flow
Using fine powder, water, and air, the Air-Flow system gently cleans the tooth surfaces.
It can also be used around restorations, implants, and between teeth.
-
⑤Tooth Surface Polishing
After Air-Flow cleaning, the teeth are polished to create a smooth surface, which:- Prevents reattachment of plaque and stains
- Enhances comfort (improves the feel on the tongue)
- Improves aesthetic appearance

Duration: Approximately 1 hour

For first-time visits, we schedule a 60-minute appointment.
We begin with a consultation and propose treatment based on your needs and preferences on the same day.
Due to the 60-minute time frame, the extent of treatment performed may depend on the amount of tartar, stains, and the condition of your gums.
Additional treatments may be scheduled for another day if necessary.
Please note that we take intraoral photographs before treatment to record the condition of your mouth at the initial visit.
